West Coast Recovery Centers is dedicated to assisting clients in bridging the gap between inpatient treatment and the post-treatment world. This type of program is pivotal to the process, and West Coast Recovery offers an unrivaled outpatient program that helps clients make it further down the path to healing.

What Constitutes a Recovery Program?

Recovery programs run the gamut. They exist at different levels, providing various types of care for those in need of treatment.

Detox

Many people going through substance abuse issues require a period of detox before moving on to other levels of care. Though not everyone requires a full detox program, it is far more difficult to continue with recovery if substances are in any way involved. Nearly all recovery programs have zero-tolerance policies in place.

Inpatient

When a person needs constant supervision and care, they often move from detox to an inpatient program. This type of program involves entering a facility for an extended length of time. In these facilities, clients are given a variety of therapies in an effort to give them a fresh start. These programs allow clients to feel safe and contained in an environment of healing without the pressures of the outside world.

Outpatient

Much like inpatient, outpatient programs require a time commitment. Unlike inpatient programs, the commitment does not involve round-the-clock care, allowing clients to return home daily. The goal is to provide a structured environment five to seven days a week, bridging the gap between inpatient and post-treatment.

Clients choose outpatient programs for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Require a bridge between inpatient and post-recovery
  • Issues do not require full hospitalization
  • Cannot leave work for long periods but still need assistance
  • Looking for assistance with finding the right path to healing

These are just a few of the reasons people seek outpatient treatment. However, programs are not limited to just these requirements.

What Does West Coast Recovery Centers Have to Offer?

People looking for a quality outpatient program that is bridging the gap need to look no further than West Coast Recovery Centers. The types of therapies we offer create a sense of healing while ushering people into a better sense of self-confidence and self-awareness. This will put them in a better state of mind as they move into post-treatment.

Individual Therapy

A person who is going through substance abuse recovery will often partake in various forms of individual therapy. These methods increase the amount of success they will have as they move forward in their process. Often, individual therapy will begin in either inpatient or outpatient treatment and continue for years into post-treatment.

When a client is able to speak one-on-one with a medical professional, they will feel safe and heard. It is an environment devoted solely to them and their mental health. Depending on the client’s needs, there are two primary methods that are utilized:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) helps the client identify unhelpful thoughts that perpetuate the cycle of substance abuse, shame, and self-criticism. Clients learn to modify their thinking patterns and find healthy ways to prevent relapse.
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a mindfulness-based treatment. DBT is recognized as an effective treatment for disorders associated with difficulties in emotional regulation issues such as borderline personality disorder (BPD), substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and clients’ suicidal behaviors.

These methods are effective and give clients a sense of understanding that may not have existed before their treatment.

Group Therapy

Some people view group therapy as people coming together to discuss their problems. However, this type of therapy is in place for much more. People who enter group therapy are given an opportunity to create dialogue around their particular situations. It is not a forum to complain, or woe is me. It is an empowering device.

Although individuals share their stories, they also open themselves to input from others. It can be a scary feeling to express oneself, especially when in such a vulnerable state. This socialization is an important part of the recovery process. People who are attempting to balance time in an outpatient program with time at home often need help with building confidence and learning how to interact properly with others.

West Coast Recovery Centers is profoundly interested in helping people establish or reestablish their social safety networks both inside and outside treatment. Through skills-based programs, group therapy, and care planning for the future, clients are prepared to rely on those around them for support.
