Depression

Depression Treatment in San Diego, California

Depression is a mental health condition that affects a person’s thoughts, feelings, actions, and perceptions of the world around them. Almost three out of every ten adults have received a depression diagnosis at some point in their lives. Depression can significantly alter your day-to-day life, with symptoms that can be debilitating.

At West Coast Recovery Centers, we tailor treatment to each individual who is facing mental health challenges, using a collaborative and holistic approach that is based on personal needs. Our program can help those battling depression find the tools and coping skills they need to reach a place of lasting healing.

Types of Depression

Depression can take on different forms and is categorized in five ways:

  1. Major depressive disorder (MDD): The most severe form of depression, MDD can completely alter your everyday life, influencing your behaviors, habits, and functioning abilities.

  2. Seasonal affective disorder (SAD): This condition comes about with the changing of the seasons due to the body struggling to adjust to lower levels of sunlight.

  3. Perinatal depression: Giving birth to a child can trigger depression symptoms, both before or after the child is born.

  4. Persistent depressive disorder: While this is less extreme than MDD, it is a chronic condition that lasts for longer than two years.

  5. Depressive psychosis: This refers to depression combined with paranoid delusions, feelings, and/or hallucinations.

Program Options

Our mental health recovery programs are for individuals who are facing mental health conditions and are not receiving enough support from therapy once a week. We have two different levels of care for our clients that are based on a person’s severity of symptoms.

Partial-Hospitalization Program

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) treatment is an outpatient program that offers more intensive care than a typical outpatient program while still allowing clients to return home at the end of each day.

Treatment occurs on Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We offer in-person sessions, including daily group therapy, weekly individual sessions, and family and couples therapy options. Weekly case management sessions are also conducted as is fit, as well as medication management.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) services are a less intense option for those who require support beyond weekly therapy for mental health conditions.

IOP services are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Daily group therapy, weekly individual sessions, and family and couples therapy options are provided, along with necessary case management sessions and medication management. However, the program ends by the afternoon, allowing clients to return home for the rest of the day.

Dual Diagnosis Program Options

Mental health and substance disorders can often be connected. For those facing a dual diagnosis, we offer program options that are designed to treat both conditions simultaneously.

With both PHP and IOP options available, clients participate in a cohesive program for their dual diagnosis, allowing them to uncover the root causes of their issues on the road to recovery.
